UK HR Manager/Business Partner

London or Oxford

The UK HR Manager/Business Partner has overall responsibility for managing the human resource and talent strategy for Future Thinking, working with the UKMD in setting the people agenda as appropriate to achieve this.

The HR Manager/Business Partner regularly advises management and Line managers on matters of people management, employee relations and strategic workforce monitoring and planning including: recruitment and employee retention, engagement, succession planning, business continuity and asset development including talent management & Group wide working. Responsible for providing a commercially relevant, compelling and forward thinking approach to talent management, linked to the Group’s Company values. The HR Manager/Business Partner leads the UK HR function.

Key tasks & responsibilities

Talent & people management & development

  • Work with the UK Senior Management Team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and talent/human resource e.g. key accounts Succession Planning designed to accommodate the objectives of the business.
  • Support the UK MD, Group CEO & CFO by providing strategic HR & Employment Law advice / counsel so that they will have an accurate view of available courses of action to structure the business.
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive talent management & development plans to facilitate sustainable growth.
  • Coordinate and report on the Quarterly Performance Review Process; Highlighting training and situational management needs and following up, as appropriate.
  • Lead the Learning & Development Strategy for the UK also feeding into Group, conducting regular training needs analysis based on management information and HR Analytics.
  • Ensure that FT employment policies & procedures are aligned with the UK business and Board’s strategic priorities, as well as meeting the needs of a diverse and dynamic workforce, whilst complying with statutory requirements.
  • Proactively coach, train and support managers with accurate and timely advice on all matters which have an HR and or legal implication as well as performance and talent management practices.

Policy & Governance:

  • Responsible for ensuring the most up to date and appropriate HR policy frameworks are in place for the management and development of FT, in order to meet its strategic objectives.
  • Keep abreast of trends in HR and talent management in the very broadest sense, so that FT remains a relevant and forward looking employer, at the forefront of the sector, focused on creating a culture with talent at the heart of its strategy, as well as minimising risk and exploiting opportunities across the Group.
  • Partner with key stakeholders regarding compliance with statutory requirements relating to employee training on GDPR, H&S, ISO etc.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to ensure adequate and up to date business continuity plans are in place which safeguard the workforce.

Planning:

  • Contribute to Future Thinking’s strategic plans, and author the talent strategy that delivers against that plan in the UK, working with the UKMD and CFO as appropriate.
  • Plan, together with senior managers and other appropriate members of the Group, for the effective implementation of agreed changes in strategic direction, policy, procedures, organisational structures or locations, with talent at the heart of our thinking.

Organisational Development:

  • Lead on pay and benefits strategy, working closely with the UKMD and Group CEO & CFO.
  • Support and collaborate with senior leadership on restructure programmes & change management in the Group.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the business partners within the HR team providing dynamic, credible and effective HR partnerships.
  • Action redundancy consultations, following a carefully planned and clearly communicated process which is legally compliant and safeguards the best interests of the business.
  • Lead on a talent acquisition strategy and on-boarding process that sets Future Thinking out as a thought leader and employer of choice within the industry.
  • Lead organisational change programmes across FT providing strategic input and guidance.
  • Develop and deliver an HR strategic plan that exemplifies what it is to have an innovative and high performance culture, where our people know how to fail fast and continuously improve. Ensure we have the right people, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time to deliver.
  • Develop our recruitment capabilities and talent management systems so that we become less reliant on external recruitment consultancies, and develop our in-house capabilities and talent development tools.
  • Ensure our systems and processes supporting HR are fit for purpose and deliver change where needed.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the business partners within the HR team providing dynamic, credible and effective HR partnerships.

Key Objectives

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the UKMD and Group CEO/Board, including the provision of in-house counsel.
  • Deliver an integrated HR, People/Talent Strategy, working across territories to achieve this.

  • UKMD, CFO, country CEOs, MD Operations, Director of Business Strategy, Vertical MD, Group CEO.
