Data Protection Officer

London

This person will take on Data Protection Officer duties for our business and will have sufficient experience of group-type corporate structure to understand how this needs to be supported in non-UK markets, specifically France and Bulgaria.

 

The DPO will report to our senior management. Data Protection Officer responsibilities include advising on compliance with GDPR, monitoring our adherence to GDPR standards and acting as a point of contact with supervisory authorities and data subjects. You will also create policies that enforce compliance with legislation and ISO 27001 requirements and deliver relevant trainings to our staff to increase awareness of data protection measures. You will be required to work closely with our Group IT leads who are developing a digital-based approach to compliance.

To be successful in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of GDPR and be familiar with our industry and the nature of its data processing activities.

Ultimately, you will facilitate Data Protection business compliance through transparent data protection policies, systems and procedures.

Additional duties will include supporting the contracts team, covering Data Protection and elements.

A desirable attribute would be experience/interest in research operational quality processes such as ISO 20252.

Any other tasks or duties we assign to our DPO will not result in a conflict of interests with their role as a DPO.

Key tasks & responsibilities:

Essential:

  1. Monitoring compliance with the GDPR, our data protection policies, awareness-raising, training, and audits.
  2. Providing advice and the information on our data protection obligations.
  3. Overseeing DPIA process and advice.
  4. Point of contact for relevant Data Protection Authorities
  5. Working with the group IT leads to implement digital solutions to compliance
  6. Provide commercial and supplier contract data protection support
  7. Lead on ISO 27001 continued certification

Desirable:

  1. Lead on ISO 20252 continued certification

Key objectives:

  • Deliver professional DPO service to the business
  • Support research and business compliance more widely where there’s no DPO conflict
  • Build digital approach to compliance with IT leads
